After more than three months of living out of our suitcases, we are finally in our new home. We now reside on our university campus in the “Foreign Expert Building.” The Chinese have given us this term “Foreign Expert,” and we laugh at this because in China we are experts at nothing but being foreigners.
We live in the building with our six other teammates (more on them later) and other foreign teachers from different parts of the world as well as some foreign students. Our apartment is on the fourth floor, and with no elevator, this should help keep us in shape. We have a one bedroom apartment. We’ve unpacked all of our suitcases, and it still is quite bare. I’m excited to decorate and make it homey. We don’t know when our classes will begin, but we’ve been told they will probably start in about 2 ½ weeks. We are spending that time getting to know our teammates, settling into our place, and getting to know our campus and surrounding area. |
So glad you guys are finally in your apartment. I know it's been a very long haul. Wish I could be with you to shop at all the fun shops to outfit your new home. Soon!!
