Halloween Party
Our annual Halloween party for our students was a success again this year. Living in a new place added a few complicating details, but overall the students had a great time and we enjoyed getting to know them better.

The family dressed up as Native Americans, which besides being politically incorrect continued my yearly tradition of costumes that confuse the Chinese (in past years I was a nerd - which is a concept they don't seem to have in their culture - and last year I was "the ghost of Ben Wallace's career" - too abstract). This year when they asked what we were and we responded with, "Native Americans," they just stared with a lost look, because in their mind we already are native Americans. And calling ourselves "Indians" just would have made it even worse. Oh well.

Here's some pictures from the night. Our apartment hosted the pumpkin carving station, which they seemed to enjoy as they proudly display their artwork.

glad to see you posting again. Ellie is just too adorable. The costume confusion is funny.
